Bob Feld

Bob Feld has been a student of the game from a very young age. His early memories include discussing the weekend’s races every Monday morning with his fourth grade teacher. He bought his first racehorse before he had his driver’s license and has been directly involved with horse racing for over 35 years.

Bob’s vast experience in the industry includes stints as a trainer’s assistant, jockey agent and public newspaper handicapper and as the liaison-director of the California Thoroughbred Trainers organization. He also helped to develop one of the leading Thoroughbred racing partnership groups on the West Coast. Bob has a keen eye for finding top-class Thoroughbreds and was involved with the selection of Eclipse Award Champions, Reraise — winner of the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) — and Action this Day, who was victorious in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile.

In addition to Champions, he advised the purchase of Hollywood Futurity (G1) winner Siphonic; Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) victress Adoration, Shared Account who won the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf and Balance, who won 3 Grade 1’s during her racing career — in addition her first foal sold at auction for a record $4.2-million for his client. One of Bob’s favorite horses was the fast-closing fourth-place finisher in the 2003 Kentucky Derby (G1), Atswhatimtalknbout. Bob has not only been involved buying at auction 7 Grade 1 winners, he also bred 3 time Grade 1 winning filly Miss Temple City. She historically beat the boys twice at Keeneland in the Grade 1 Maker’s Mark Mile and the Grade 1 Shadwell Mile in the same season. The only other horse to pull off that feat was Wise Dan, a two time Horse of the Year!

His advice and consultation are highly prized, making Bob a tremendous asset to any Thoroughbred program.

Sean Feld

Sean has had a passion for horseracing since his youth, tagging along on racetrack trips with his dad, Bob, at every opportunity. He learned how to read the Daily Racing Form at the age of eight and has been handicapping races ever since.

His first hands-on experience with horses came as a weekend hotwalker and barn hand for trainer Grant Hofmans when he was just 13. At 15, he spent a summer working in Lexington, Kentucky at the legendary 505 Farm.

Upon graduation from the prestigious Loyola High School of Los Angeles in 2005, he entered the University of Kentucky, graduating from there in 2009 with a Bachelors degree in Agricultural Economics. During his college years, Sean worked at various Thoroughbred sales for Bongo Racing and Bobfeld Bloodstock and also worked a summer for Kellyn Gorder, who did the early training for WinStar Farm, prior to becoming a public trainer.

After a seasonal stint with Walmac Farm in 2010, Sean took full-time employment at Spendthrift Farm. He played a major role in Spendthrift’s acquisition of Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) winner Court Vision, who coincidentally he had worked with when employed by Gorder at 505.

Sean also had a big hand in the acquisition of the two-time Eclipse Award champion Beholder as a yearling for Spendthrift Farm. Sean left Spendthrift Farm in 2013 and now serves as the Managing Director for Climax Stallions.

Sean lives in Lexington, Kentucky where he owns Charlie Brown’s, a restaurant & lounge that was started in 1973.
